Hey Everyone!

Hope you are enjoying your week so far! While I am writing this book review for you, it is a Monday afternoon for me, and I have done nothing but binge watch American Horror Story season 1 with my partner and look at book related things on twitter. A well needed lazy day since I am not feeling too well today. My Crohn’s has been affecting me a lot lately, specifically mentally so I have been reading a lot! YAY for reading! 🙂

So over the weekend I finally got to finish Empire of Storms! I have been reading Sarah J. Maas books a lot lately! I am just obsessed with her books! Before starting this series I re-read Sarah’s series: A Court of Thorns and Roses so that I could have a refresher of her new release Novella: A Court of Frost and Starlight. Which I hope to have a review up soon. But after re-reading the series, I continued on with reading Sarah J. Maas and started the Throne of Glass series, (which was before I started this blog) hence why this is my first review. SORRY! I absolutely love Sarah’s writing to the point that I am excited for her final release book but also sad because I do not want it to end!

It took me longer than I had hoped to read this book because I have just been so busy starting back at art school. I had planned to finish this last month (July) but was a week late on that! I’m hoping I can mange my reading a bit better this month! For those who are not aware, Empire of Storms is book 5 in the Throne of Glass series. If you have not read the other books in this series, I am going to try to keep this spoiler free as much as I can!

Before I start, here is the Goodreads description:

‘The long path to the throne has only just begun for Aelin Galathynius as war looms on the horizon. Loyalties have been broken and bought, friends have been lost and gained, and those who possess magic find themselves at odds with those who don’t.

With her heart sworn to the warrior-prince by her side, and her fealty pledged to the people she is determined to save, Aelin will delve into the depths of her power to protect those she loves. But as monsters emerge from the horrors of the past, and dark forces become poised to claim her world, the only chance for salvation will lie in a desperate quest that may mark the end of everything Aelin holds dear.

In this breathtaking fifth installment of the New York Timesbestselling Throne of Glass series, Aelin will have to choose what—and who—to sacrifice if she’s to keep the world of Erilea from breaking apart.’

When I started this book, I did not think that it was going to end with me being an emotional wreck. I have had plenty of books make me cry, but not like this! I loved every minute of this book! I did prefer the second half of the book as it was more action packed and faster paced than the beginning. I grew very attached to shipping SPOILERS*…………… Elide and Lorcan. and obviously Rowan and Aelin. I just think Lorcan and Elide are just beautiful and I am quite sad and frustrated with the ending with this book with the relation to these two.

I am not going to mention what completely and utterly broke me at the end of this book. All I will say is that do not expect a happy ending, expect your heart to be broken into a thousand pieces to the point you are never going to recover from the emotional roller coaster that Sarah is going to put you through. Yes, Sarah’s writing is known to make us very emotional, giving us highs and lows, but in my opinion, this books topped that. I have never read a book that has given me such an emotional break down before and I have read a lot of books!! To read this book, make sure you have tissues, chocolate and someone on standby to hug you and who is prepared to listen to you talk your emotions out because that is the only way you will survive this! (I know dramatic, but its the only way I can explain how emotional this ending is without giving spoilers). I really hope that Kingdom of Ash is not so emotional, people who have read this book will know what I am talking about.

After Queen of Shadows, I came to love Manon Blackbeak as a character and I was so happy to find that in this book she was a main character. I loved hearing her story line and what she had gone through etc. I feel a Novella on her would be absolutely terrific!

I loved Lysandra, she is such a beautiful loving character! I need more of her in this series. Am I the only one that feels this way? There was a section in this book that I absolutely loved involving her, so I am going to share that with you:

I just loved this, I thought it was beautiful, descriptive and just captured Lysandra at the time. Just beautiful! Do you have any favourite quotes or sections of this book? Please share with me!

The other thing I would like to discuss in relation to this book is, guys, has Dorian become an arrogant pr*ck? Or is it just me? especially with the chapters that involved him and Manon, I just did not like his attitude towards her, especially in those intimate scenes. I just did not like the vibes he gave. I absolutely love Manon, and I felt she deserved better? His attitude came across as if he wanted to ‘own’ her? Maybe that was just me? Please let know what you felt about Dorian in this book, persuade me other wise!!

Thanks for reading!

What have you finished reading recently?

July TBR

Hi everyone!

I do not have many books on my TBR list for this month, simply because I have been really busy with my health, my art and I start back at art school next week (16th July). So I am trying to keep my list rather simple for this month! I only have three books this month! I am actually really excited to read these books, as I am super pumped for Sarah J maas’s new book in the Throne of Glass series. I am a bit behind in reading the ‘latest’ books, because just like everyone else, life gets in the way and there just is not enough time in the day to get everything done! But here we go!

Book 1:

The Beasts Heart By Leife Shallcross            ‘My beast’s nose scented cold, and earth, and the faintest tang of magic. Not the same 36969648_495414344232446_7721139755437522944_nmagic that pervaded the house, or even the forest. This was something older and wilder, filled with sadness and decay. Yet at its core was something pure and clear, like the peak of a bell, or the heat of a burning ember. Or the colour f a crimson Rose.’

This book I have already started to read. I am almost half way through. This book is about the classical tale, ‘story as old as time,’ Beauty and the Beast! However, it has an interesting twist to it! It is written from the perspective of the Beast, which I find rather interesting, I do not know of any Beauty and the Beast stories written from the Beasts perspective. If you know of any please let me know!

I was so excited when I heard this book was out because I absolutely love Beauty and the Beast, it is my all time favourite fairy tale! So when I saw it on the shelves in the book store I had to have it. I think the art cover is just beautiful. Absolutely gorgeous!

Book 2:

Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas.  36963161_495455124228368_7581535034641743872_n

Blood will run. Dreams will shatter. An army must rise. The assassin-queen has sworn not to turn her back on her kingdom again. Especially when she might be the only one who can raise an army to keep the Dark King from unleashing his beasts upon them all. But Erawan will wield Aelin’s past, her allies, and her enemies against her. With a powerful court trusting Aelin to lead them and her heart devoted to the warrior-prince at her side, what – or who  – is she willing to sacrifice to spare her world from being torn apart?’

This is the fifth book in the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas. I absolutely love her books, and I am so excited to finish reading this! I absolutely love Rowan and Aelin as a couple, I ship them completely. I just can not get enough of them as a couple in these books! I will admit though that even though I love this series, I love Sarah’s A court of thorns and roses book series more. I need more of them in my life! Have you read any of Sarah’s books?

Book 3:

Tower of Dawn by Sarah J. Maas.37004065_495455094228371_6766698018247802880_n

A Glorious empire. A Desperate Quest. An Ancient secret.’

‘Chaol westfall and Nesryn Faliq have arrived in the shining city of Antica to forge an allegiance with the Khan of the Southern Continent, whose vast armies are Erilea’s last hope. But they have also come to Antica for another purpose: to seek healing at the legendary Torre Cesme for the wounds that Chaol received in Rifthold.

After enduring unspeakable horrors as a child, Irene Towers has no desire to help a young lord from Adarlan, let alone heal him. Yet she has sworn an oath to assist those in need – and will honour it. But Lord Westfall carries darkness from his own past, and Irene soon comes to realise it could engulf them both.

And deep in the shadows of distant mountains, where warriors soar on mighty runs, long-awaited answers slumber. Answers that might offer their world a chance at survival – or doom them all.’

I’m not going to such much about this one as I said it all above. But I just can’t wait to read this book! Loving this series at the moment!!

What is on your TBR list for this month? Do you have many? Any recommendations for my next TBR list?

Thanks for reading!
